Tax AideDue to AARP approved site restrictions, WB Parks, regrettably will not be able to schedule any tax-aide appointments for 2021 for the cities of West Bloomfield or Bloomfield Township this year. Please check with the AARP official website www.aarp.org for updates. You may also visit www.irs.gov for tax forms, information and online filing.
Free Grocery DeliveryOakland County is excited to announce a FREE opportunity for seniors ages 60+ in Oakland County! There are NO income restrictions to participate in the program.
Seniors or their guardian/friend/family member can apply for free one-year memberships with Shipt provided by Oakland County. These are first come, first served. They will apply online (or via phone at our HELP line but they must still have online capabilities to use Shipt). After they apply online, they will receive an email that will include their redemption code, and they can open their account. Area Agency on Ageing (AAA1B) many resources specific to those who live in Oakland County, including COVID-19 helplines, food and essential supply assistance, grocery delivery, pet food, friendly reassurance, online support, legal resources and tax assistance. Older adults can now get help to learn how to navigate technology such as videoconferencing and telemedicine that has become more necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Aging & Adult Services Agency at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is announcing a partnership with GetSetup, a mission-driven education technology company dedicated to creating economic and learning opportunities for older adults. Older Michiganders can access more than 150 free online group classes designed for and led by older adults. Offerings include classes on how to use a smartphone or tablet, how to use services like video conferencing, Gmail, Facebook, grocery delivery and telemedicine, as well as virtual social hours. |
