In 2016, Commissioner Sally Wenczel, was presented with the opportunity to join the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission and prides saying yes as one of her best decisions. Sally has grown to love the team at WB Parks over the years and considers herself at home with other nature enthusiasts and volunteers. She is a book author and freelance illustrator in the realm of environmental education, presenting rain garden book talks in the local schools and for groups all over Michigan. Sally has also done artwork professionally for organizations like Michigan Lakes & Streams Association, Friends of the Rouge and has most recently, joined the team at “In the Mitten Productions” theater company as a set artist. In her free time, she enjoys being outside biking, cross country skiing, kayaking, reading and more!
Favorite Thing About Nature:
My favorite thing about nature is… do I really have to pick one thing!? I think nature’s clock is my favorite thing. When I turn my attention to the season, the moon phase, equinox, solstice and all the gifts that each season brings, it reminds me that the natural world is this incredible, complex system that we are so lucky to be a part of.
