Community Garden (Permit Required)
Put down some roots and come grow with us! Join your neighbors in growing your own farm fresh vegetables. There are 64 plots, each approximately 450 square feet, as part of the community garden at the Karner Farm!
Starting January of each year, gardeners from the previous season have the option to re-register for their plot through the end of March. At the beginning of April, any open plots will be released to those on our ongoing waiting list. All those who are currently on the waiting list will remain on the list and will be called accordingly. If you are interested in joining the community garden, please feel free to call us at (248) 451-1900 to find out if there are spots available and/or to be put on the waitlist for the next season.
Plots are tilled usually by Memorial Day, depending on the weather and ground conditions. Once open, the Garden is open to registered gardeners 7 days a week 8am to 8pm, except Wednesdays, in which it will be closed 8am-11am for maintenance. (Maintenance takes place on all of the grounds at Karner Farm, including the enclosed adjacent West Bloomfield Dog Park.) The garden stays available through early/mid-November (weather permitting).
Registration for the garden includes signing an annual permit and paying an annual fee ($50 for West Bloomfield residents/$60 for non-residents). Garden participation is based on your commitment to your plot outlined in the annual permit agreement. Plots are inspected regularly throughout the garden season.
