Rick is a resident of Commerce Township, and a lifelong sports enthusiast. He has played and coached a variety of sports, including baseball, soccer, tennis, racquetball, endurance races, long-distance bicycling and off-road motorcycling. He discovered pickleball in 2005 while traveling to Arizona for work assignments, and rediscovered it in 2018 through the West Bloomfield Parks and Rec program. The instructional style he uses is to promote fun and camaraderie, with a goal of meeting each individual class member in their stage of growth in the sport. He is encouraged by the tremendous expansion of pickleball in southeast Michigan, and believes that the welcoming nature of the player community is a major driver of that growth. By giving back time to instruct newer players he hopes to return the goodwill he received when picking up the sport here in Michigan and continuing to build up this great group of pickleball enthusiasts.
